MAKING MIRRORS - GOTYE
I purchased the new album by Gotye and I was impressed. I'm in love with it. His electronic indie beats with the lyrics that accompany them make a perfect combination. His work is genius, as always. He stayed faithful to his previous album but I must say, he added a little something more to amaze us and keep us hooked! I once read a quote that said : Music is what feelings sound like. Well, Gotye your music can totally express emotions. If you don't know Gotye but love Sparkadia, then please check him out, you will not be disappointed. I'm sorry if my review isn't really long, I'm just so into his music right now. I can't focus on writing haha :)

MOUNTAINTOPS - MATES OF STATE
I just have one word : Awesome. This is just a great indie pop/rock album. I would totally go on a roadtrip with this playing in my car. The music is so catchy! I think my two favorite songs on this album are Palomino and Sway. They just make me feel like a teenager again. It's as if nothing is impossible and I could conquer it all. I think the electric organ is what gives the music a really bubbly groove. Songs like Mistakes or Unless I'm Led are more mellow but without a doubt as good as the more upbeat ones. They're the kind of songs you'd want to listen to when you're chilling in your backyard at the end of a summer day. You shouldn't waste anymore time, get this album! You'll be tapping your feet throughout the whole cd.

Like Crazy Soundtrack
The Mary Onettes were featured in this soundtrack so why not review it! This is the reason why I enjoy independent films so much, because the soundtracks are always the best. It's always good indie music. Like Crazy features really great artists like The Radio Dept., M83, Stars and Asobi Seksu. The main reason why I got into music business is because I want to become a music supervisor. I want to create the perfect soundtrack to a movie or a tv show. I have the patience and the curiosity to look for the best song possible for a scene. I want to give people the chills when they watch a scene because the song has added so much meaning to it. Enough about me. This soundtrack was just exquisite. Every song fits every scene perfectly. The instrumental pieces done by Dustin O'Halloran are also magical. They match the romantic/dramatic universe of this movie and make you understand so much about how the characters feel. If you listen to this without having seen the movie, i'm convinced that you can still grasp the essence of it. It's too beautiful.
ISLANDS - THE MARY ONETTES
I discovered The Mary Onettes this week when I went to the movies and saw Like Crazy. I automatically fell in love with them. Was it because the scene in which their music was featured was more than amazing? Maybe. When I got home I listened to their album and just instantly bought it. You just know when you get a good feeling about a band and quite frankly The Mary Onettes did not disappoint. You know how you sometimes end up liking only one song from a band, well not with them. Every song transports you into another universe where everything is beautiful and simple. Islands is the third album of this indie rock/new wave band. I could easily make a soundtrack to my life with every song of their album. Each of their songs make me feel hopeful and... fuck it, I just feel good listening to it. Please check them out, they are worth your attention. If any of you know or like The Radio Dept. well The Mary Onettes is a good band for you to listen to :)
Welcome.
Hello everyone.
My name is Gabrielle but please call me Gabe. I'm from Montreal and currently a student in Music Business/Management. I've been blogging all my life, kind of, and I just really enjoy saying what's on my mind. I realize people don't really enjoy it when you say what's on your mind on facebook so blogging has been for me a way of verbalizing my every thought without the fear of being judged.
I've decided to start reviewing albums because music is my life, literally. I want to share my views on the music I love and hopefully get some people to listen to bands they've never heard of before. Oh, and please, if you have some albums/artists you'd want to share... let me know. I love discovering bands I don't know about.
So there it is. That's me.
See ya and enjoy :)
I believe music cures absolutely everything.
